
























Rachel Baynton has worked as Artistic Director (1997/01) with several successful Youth Theatre companies leading the groups, both creatively and pastorally, in the production of their own work in venues and festivals around the country. She spent four years with the Lincoln Shakespeare Company, touring large-scale outdoor performances to English Heritage sites and involving herself in production and educational outreach aspects of the company’s work. Rachel designed and co-led the drama aspect of a literacy support programme for secondary school intake students, created to enhance specified elements of the national curriculum and increase the acquisition of literacy skills. The success of the project led to the implementation and execution of similar projects for Lincolnshire County Council.
Graduating in Devised Theatre at Dartington College of Arts, Rachel has gone on to work as a writer, performer, producer and director of collaborative, often site-specific, theatre including: the performance pieces THE BULLIVER PROJECT [2002]: created with the support of South Hams Railway in Totnes, Devon and THE CALMER FUTURE? [2005]. Rachel created and curated FINISH THIS [2004/5].an online international writing collaboration and undertook dramaturgical duties for AN INTERVIEW WITH DORIAN GRAY [2006].
Rachel also provides marketing and participation support for Lancaster Institute of Contemporary Arts (LICA), incorporating the Nuffield Theatre, Lancaster International Concert Series and the Peter Scott Gallery, alongside work on the delivery of the visiting exhibitions programme.
