CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS: The multitude of support networks for 'emerging artists' can be a double-edged sword for artists who no longer consider themselves 'emerging', providing important opportunities for young artists to develop but not necessarily leading those artists towards any future stage of development and/or success. The dreaded 'mid-career' period of artistic development leaves many of us wondering "where do we go from here?" Not yet fully-funded, not yet making our living solely from our artistic practice, and not sure of how to break through to the next level, mid-career artists face a unique set of challenges. Artistic Director Peter S Petralia was recently awarded an Activator Bursary from the New Work Network and the Nuffield Theatre, and as part of his project he wants to talk to other artists who consider themselves to be mid-career. He wants to know what they need/what challenges they face and in return he will try to develop a small contribution towards providing some type of support for these artists. This call, then, is for anyone who lives/works in the NW of England, considers themselves a mid-career artist (however they define that), and who is making contemporary performance (live art, theatre, film, dance, etc). Peter will be scheduling in-person interviews that will last less than one hour, where he will ask a series of questions aimed at finding out what it is that mid-career artists need most. If you are interested, please send an email with the following: This project is supported by New Work Network in partnership with Nuffield Theatre. |
